Śoka-śamana: Kṛṣṇa’s Consolation and Nārada’s Exempla to Sṛñjaya
Chapter 29
असुराणां सहस्राणि बहूनि सुरसत्तम: । अजयदू बाहुवीर्येण भगवान् पाकशासन:
asurāṇāṃ sahasrāṇi bahūni surasattamaḥ | ajayadū bāhuvīryeṇa bhagavān pākaśāsanaḥ ||
Vāyu sprach: „Der Vortrefflichste unter den Göttern – Bhagavān Pākaśāsana (Indra) – bezwang durch die Kraft seiner Arme viele Tausende von Asuras.“
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse highlights the ideal of protective strength used to uphold order: Indra’s victory over the Asuras symbolizes the duty of a rightful ruler or guardian to restrain disruptive forces and preserve stability.
Vāyu is praising or recalling Indra’s martial success, stating that Indra—renowned as Pākaśāsana—defeated vast numbers of Asuras through sheer arm-strength and valor.
