स्नेहजानिह ते पाशान् वक्ष्यामि शृणु तान् मम । सकर्णकेन शिरसा शक्या: श्रोतुं विजानता,'मैं तुम्हें स्नेहजनित बन्धनोंका परिचय देता हूँ, उन्हें तुम मुझसे सुनो। श्रवणेन्द्रियसम्पन्न समझदार मनुष्य ही ऐसी बातोंको बुद्धिपूर्वक सुन सकता है”
snehajān iha te pāśān vakṣyāmi śṛṇu tān mama | sa-karṇakena śirasā śakyāḥ śrotuṁ vijānatā ||
Bhīṣma sprach: „Ich will dir die Bande schildern, die aus Zuneigung entstehen; höre sie von mir. Nur ein Mensch von Unterscheidungskraft — mit wachem Geist und wirklich lauschendem Ohr — kann solchen Rat recht hören und begreifen.“
