एवं स गौतम: पुत्र प्रीतिहर्षगुणैर्युत: । अभिनन्द्य महाप्राज्ञ इदे वचनमब्रवीत्,महामते! इस प्रकार प्रेम और हर्षसे भरे हुए गौतमने पुत्रका अभिनन्दन करके यह बात कही--
evaṁ sa gautamaḥ putra prīti-harṣa-guṇair yutaḥ | abhinandya mahāprājña idaṁ vacanam abravīt mahāmate ||
Bhishma sprach: So begrüßte Gautama, der Hochweise, erfüllt von den Tugenden der Zuneigung und der Freude, seinen Sohn und sprach dann diese Worte, o Großgesinnter—als Auftakt zu einem Rat, der auf rechtem Handeln und Unterscheidungsvermögen beruht.
