न भूतानामहिंसाया ज्यायान्‌ धर्मोडस्ति कश्नन । यस्मान्नोद्विजते भूतं जातु किंचित्‌ कथंचन । सो<भयं सर्वभूतेभ्य: सम्प्राप्रोति महामुने,प्राणियोंकी हिंसा न करनेसे जिस धर्मकी सिद्धि होती है, उससे बढ़कर महान्‌ धर्म कोई नहीं है। महामुने! जिससे कभी कोई भी प्राणी किसी तरह उद्विग्न नहीं होता, वह भी सम्पूर्ण प्राणियोंसे अभय प्राप्त कर लेता है

na bhūtānām ahiṁsāyā jyāyān dharmo 'sti kaścana | yasmān nodvijate bhūtaṁ jātu kiṁcit kathaṁcana | so 'bhayaṁ sarvabhūtebhyaḥ samprāpnoti mahāmune ||

Tūladhāra sprach: Es gibt kein Dharma, das größer wäre als Ahimsa—Gewaltlosigkeit gegenüber lebenden Wesen. O großer Weiser! Wer niemals irgendein Geschöpf auf irgendeine Weise beunruhigt, erlangt einen Zustand der Furchtlosigkeit im Verhältnis zu allen Wesen; da er allen gegenüber harmlos ist, ist er unter allen sicher.
