राजधर्मः—राष्ट्ररक्षणं, दण्डनीतिः, हयग्रीवोपाख्यानम्

नाकालतो भानुरुपैति योगं नाकालतो3स्तंगिरिमभ्युपैति | नाकालतो वर्धते हीयते च चन्द्र: समुद्रो5पि महोर्मिमाली,असमयमें सूर्य उदयाचलसे संयुक्त नहीं होते हैं, समय आये बिना वे अस्ताचलपर भी नहीं जाते हैं, असमयमें न तो चन्द्रमा घटते-बढ़ते हैं और न समुद्रमें ही ऊँची-ऊँची तरंगें उठती हैं
na kālato bhānur upaiti yogaṃ na kālato ’staṅgirim abhyupaiti | na kālato vardhate hīyate ca candraḥ samudro ’pi mahormimālī ||
Vyāsa sprach: Die Sonne verbindet sich nicht vor ihrer Zeit mit dem Horizont und nähert sich nicht vor ihrer Zeit dem Berg des Untergangs. Ebenso nimmt der Mond nicht außer der Zeit zu oder ab, und selbst der Ozean, gekrönt von mächtigen Wogen, brandet nicht zur Unzeit auf. So bewegen sich die großen Kräfte der Welt unter der Herrschaft der Zeit; darum soll man mit Geduld und Angemessenheit handeln und Ergebnisse nicht gegen den verordneten Augenblick erzwingen.
