Knowing the subtle principle and the bhūtātman through yoga

Educational Q&A

Since all beings seek happiness and fear suffering, one who is devoted to dharma should avoid deeds that frighten or terrorize others; ethical action is measured by its impact on the felt safety and well-being of living creatures.

In the didactic discourse of the Śānti Parva, Vyāsa articulates a general moral principle for righteous conduct: recognizing universal vulnerability to fear, the listener is urged to refrain from fear-producing actions.
