Jñāna-plava (The Raft of Knowledge): Svabhāva, Prajñā, and the Ascent to Ātmajñāna

तत्त्वज्ञ पुरुषको चाहिये कि वह अपमानको अमृतके समान समझकर उससे संतुष्ट हो और विद्वान्‌ मनुष्य सम्मानको विषके तुल्य समझकर उससे सदा डरता रहे ।। अवज्ञात:ः सुखं शेते इह चामुत्र चाभयम्‌ । विमुक्त: सर्वदोषेभ्यो योडवमन्ता स बध्यते,सम्पूर्ण दोषोंसे मुक्त महात्मा पुरुष अपमानित होनेपर भी इस लोक और परलोकमें निर्भय होकर सुखसे सोता है; परंतु उसका अपमान करनेवाला पुरुष पापाबन्धनमें पड़ जाता है

jaigīṣavya uvāca | tattvajñaḥ puruṣaḥ kāmayed yat sa apamānaṃ amṛtavat manyamānaḥ tena tuṣyeta, vidvān tu mānaṃ viṣavat manyamānaḥ tasmāt sadā bibheti || avajñātaḥ sukhaṃ śete iha cāmutra cābhayam | vimuktaḥ sarvadoṣebhyo yo ’vamantā sa badhyate ||

Jaigīṣavya sprach: Ein Kenner der Wahrheit soll die Kränkung wie Nektar nehmen und zufrieden bleiben; und ein Weiser soll die Ehre wie Gift ansehen und sich daher stets vor ihr hüten. Wer missachtet wird, schläft glücklich und furchtlos in dieser Welt wie in der jenseitigen, von allen Makeln befreit; doch wer ihn beleidigt, wird an die Sünde gebunden.
