अभक्ष्यभक्षणरता निर्मर्यादा हतत्विष: । दैत्यगण कृतघ्न, नास्तिक, पापाचारी तथा गुरुपत्नीगामी हो गये हैं। जो चीज नहीं खानी चाहिये, वे भी खाते और धर्मकी मर्यादा तोड़कर मनमाने आचरण करते हैं। इसीलिये वे कान्तिहीन हो गये हैं
abhakṣyabhakṣaṇaratā nirmaryādā hatatviṣaḥ | daityagaṇāḥ kṛtaghnā nāstikāḥ pāpācāriṇaḥ tathā gurupatnīgāminaḥ abhavan |
Śakra sprach: „Die Scharen der Dānavas sind dem Genuss dessen verfallen, was nicht gegessen werden darf. Sie haben jede Zügelung abgelegt und handeln, indem sie die Grenzen des Dharma überschreiten, nach Belieben; darum ist ihr Glanz verblasst. Sie sind zu Undankbaren, Ungläubigen und gewohnheitsmäßigen Sündern geworden—ja, sie entweihen sogar die Heiligkeit der Frau des Lehrers.“

Indra links inner moral collapse to outward loss of splendor: when beings violate dharma—through forbidden consumption, lawlessness, ingratitude, disbelief, and grave sexual transgression—they become ‘hatatviṣ’, deprived of radiance.
