योग–सांख्यसमन्वयः, रथोपमा, व्यक्त–अव्यक्तविवेकः

पितृन्‌ देवातिथींश्वैव यथावत्‌ ते5भ्यपूजयन्‌ । अवशेषाणि चाश्नन्ति नित्यं सत्यतपोधृता:,पितरों, देवताओं और अतिथियोंकी विधिवत्‌ पूजा करते थे तथा उन्हें अर्पण करनेके पश्चात्‌ बचे हुए अन्नको ही प्रसादरूपमें पाते थे। वे सभी सत्यवादी और तपस्वी थे

pitṝn devātithīṁś caiva yathāvat te 'bhyapūjayan | avaśeṣāṇi cāśnanti nityaṁ satya-tapo-dhṛtāḥ ||

Śakra sprach: „Sie ehrten die Pitṛs (Ahnengeister), die Götter und die Gäste in rechter Weise nach dem Ritus; und erst nach diesen Darbringungen aßen sie, was übrig blieb, und nahmen es als geweihte Speise (prasāda) an. Standhaft in Wahrheit und Askese lebten sie in Zucht und Ehrfurcht—Pflicht und Gastfreundschaft stellten sie vor den eigenen Genuss.“
