Time-Reckoning, Yuga-Dharma, and the Sequence of Creation
The verse emphasizes a sober understanding of worldly change: prosperity and decline alternate by an eternal law (sanātana-dharma). Recognizing this helps restrain anger and prevents a powerful person from reacting as though fluctuations are unnatural or purely personal.
Śakra (Indra), addressed as Purandara, speaks about the earlier fear his wrath inspired and then states his insight into the world’s enduring pattern—periodic growth and diminution—framing events within cosmic order rather than impulsive emotion.
