Adhyāya 2: Nārada’s Disclosure—Karṇa’s Training and the Brahmin’s Curse (Śānti-parva)
गुहामेतत् तु देवानां कथयिष्यामि तेडनघ । तन्निबोध महाबाहो यथा वृत्तमिदं पुरा,अनघ! यह देवताओंकी गुप्त बात है जिसको मैं तुम्हें बता रहा हूँ। महाबाहो! पूर्वकालके इस यथावत् वृत्तान्तको तुम ध्यान देकर सुनो
guhāmetat tu devānāṁ kathayiṣyāmi te 'nagha | tan nibodha mahābāho yathā vṛttam idaṁ purā ||
Nārada sprach: „Dies ist eine geheime Angelegenheit der Götter; ich will sie dir berichten, o Makelloser. Höre aufmerksam zu, o mächtigarmiger Held, und vernimm diesen Bericht genau so, wie er sich in uralter Zeit zugetragen hat.“
नारद उवाच
The verse emphasizes disciplined listening and receptivity to instruction: a sacred or ethically significant account should be heard with attention, especially when it concerns divine or confidential matters that illuminate dharma.
Nārada begins a disclosure: he announces that he will reveal a hidden matter connected with the gods and urges the listener—addressed respectfully as “blameless” and “mighty-armed”—to hear the ancient account carefully and accurately.
