Adhyāya 2: Nārada’s Disclosure—Karṇa’s Training and the Brahmin’s Curse (Śānti-parva)

तदज्ञानकृतं मत्वा ब्राह्मणाय न्यवेदयत्‌ । कर्ण: प्रसादयंश्वैनमिदमित्यब्रवीद्‌ वच:,अनजानमें यह अपराध बन गया है, ऐसा समझकर कर्णने ब्राह्मणको सारा हाल बता दिया और उसे प्रसन्न करते हुए इस प्रकार कहा--

tad ajñāna-kṛtaṁ matvā brāhmaṇāya nyavedayat | karṇaḥ prasādayaṁś cainam idam ity abravīd vacaḥ ||

Da er erkannte, dass das Vergehen aus Unwissenheit begangen worden war, legte Karṇa dem Brāhmaṇa den ganzen Hergang dar. Dann, um ihn zu besänftigen und sein Wohlwollen zurückzugewinnen, sprach Karṇa folgende Worte.

Nārada describes Karṇa recognizing that an offense occurred unintentionally. Karṇa then reports the full situation to the brāhmaṇa and tries to pacify him, introducing the words he is about to speak.
