भीष्म उवाच ततो विकृतवेषौ द्वौ पुरुषा समुपस्थितौ | गृहीत्वान्योन्यमावेष्ट्य कुचैलाबूचतुर्वच:,भीष्मजी कहते हैं--राजन्‌! इसी समय वहाँ विकराल वेषधारी दो पुरुष उपस्थित हुए। दोनोंने एक-दूसरेको पकड़कर अपने हाथोंसे आवेष्टित कर रखा था। दोनोंके शरीरपर मैले वस्त्र थे (उनमेंसे एकका नाम विकृत था और दूसरेका नाम विरूप)। वे दोनों बारंबार इस प्रकार कह रहे थे

bhīṣma uvāca | tato vikṛtaveṣau dvau puruṣā samupasthitau | gṛhītvānyonyam āveṣṭya kucailābūcatuḥ vacaḥ ||

Bhishma sprach: Da erschienen dort, o König, zwei Männer in grotesker Verkleidung. Sie packten einander und hielten sich fest umschlungen in den Armen, in schmutzige Gewänder gehüllt; und immer wieder sprachen sie auf diese Weise—eine eindringliche Szene, die auf sittliche Unordnung und die Folgen entwürdigten Handelns hinweist.
