मनुरुवाच — इन्द्रिय-मनः-ज्ञान-क्रमः
Manu on the hierarchy of senses, mind, and knowledge
सत्यमग्निपरीचारो विविक्तानां च सेवनम्
bhīṣma uvāca | akṛtaprajño bālo mohaṃ gacchati jāpakaḥ | sa mohān nirayaṃ yāti tatra gatvānūśocati ||
Bhishma sprach: „Ein kindischer Übender, dem reife Unterscheidung fehlt, verfällt beim Japa in Verblendung. Von dieser Verblendung getrieben, gelangt er in einen höllischen Zustand; und dort angekommen, trauert er unaufhörlich. Diese Lehre warnt: Geistige Disziplinen wie Japa müssen in rechter Einsicht und Selbstbeherrschung gründen; sonst wird die Übung zu einer weiteren Gestalt der Unwissenheit, die zu Leid führt statt zur Befreiung.“
