Adhyāya 178 — The courses of prāṇa-vāyu and the regulation of the bodily fire

अत्राप्युदाहरन्तीममितिहासं पुरातनम्‌ । निर्वेदान्मड़किना गीतं तन्निबोध युधिष्ठिर

Transliteration

atrāpy udāharantīmam itihāsaṃ purātanam | nirvedān maḍakinā gītaṃ tan nibodha yudhiṣṭhira ||

Translation

Bhīṣma sprach: „Auch hierzu führen sie ein uraltes Beispiel an. Höre, Yudhiṣṭhira: Es ist ein Ausspruch, den der Weise Maḍakī aus Entsagung sang. Ich will dir jene alte Begebenheit berichten.“
