मृत्यु-काल-प्रबोधनम् (Instruction on Mortality, Time, and Truth) — Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 169
त्वद्दर्शनात् तु विप्रेन्द्र कृतार्थो 5स्म्यद्य वै द्विज । आवां हि सह यास्याव: श्वो वसस्वाद्य शर्वरीम्,“विप्रेन्द्र! आज आपके दर्शनसे मैं कृतार्थ हो गया। ब्रह्म! अब रातभर यहीं रहिये, कल खबेरे हम दोनों साथ ही चलेंगे”
tvaddarśanāt tu viprendra kṛtārtho 'smy adya vai dvija | āvām hi saha yāsyāvaḥ śvo vasasvādya śarvarīm ||
Bhīṣma sprach: „O Bester der Brāhmaṇen, dich heute zu sehen, lässt mich fühlen, dass mein Zweck erfüllt ist. O Zweimalgeborener, bleibe diese Nacht hier; morgen beim Tagesanbruch werden wir beide gemeinsam aufbrechen.“
