दानवेन्द्रास्त्वतिक्रम्य तत्‌ पितामहशासनम्‌ । धर्मस्यापचयं चक्कुः: क्रोधलो भसमन्विता:,परंतु दानवेश्वरोंने क्रोध और लोभसे युक्त हो ब्रह्माजीकी उस आज्ञाका उल्लंघन करके धर्मको हानि पहुँचाना आरम्भ किया

dānavendrās tv atikramya tat pitāmahaśāsanam | dharmasyāpacayaṃ cakruḥ krodhalobhasamanvitāḥ ||

Bhishma sprach: „Doch die Herren der Dānavas, von Zorn und Gier getrieben, übertraten jenes Gebot des Großvaters (Brahmā) und begannen, den Niedergang des Dharma herbeizuführen.“
