On Gratitude and Friendship Ethics
दानवेन्द्रास्त्वतिक्रम्य तत् पितामहशासनम् । धर्मस्यापचयं चक्कुः: क्रोधलो भसमन्विता:,परंतु दानवेश्वरोंने क्रोध और लोभसे युक्त हो ब्रह्माजीकी उस आज्ञाका उल्लंघन करके धर्मको हानि पहुँचाना आरम्भ किया
dānavendrās tv atikramya tat pitāmahaśāsanam | dharmasyāpacayaṃ cakruḥ krodhalobhasamanvitāḥ ||
Bhishma sprach: „Doch die Herren der Dānavas, von Zorn und Gier getrieben, übertraten jenes Gebot des Großvaters (Brahmā) und begannen, den Niedergang des Dharma herbeizuführen.“
भीष्म उवाच
Anger and greed lead beings to violate rightful injunctions and thereby cause the erosion of dharma; ethical collapse begins with inner vices that override restraint and obedience to higher law.
Bhīṣma describes how the leaders of the Dānavas disregarded Brahmā’s command; under the influence of krodha (anger) and lobha (greed), they initiated actions that harmed dharma and set a pattern of moral disorder.
