Adhyāya 166: Kṛtaghna-doṣa (कृतघ्नदोषः) — the fault of ingratitude and the limits of expiation

श्रेयांसं शयनं हित्वा या<न्‍्यं पापं॑ निगच्छति । श्वभिस्तामर्दयेद्‌ राजा संस्थाने बहुविस्तरे,जो अपने श्रेष्ठ पतिको छोड़कर अन्य पापीकी शय्यापर जाती है, उस कुलटाको अत्यन्त विस्तृत मैदानमें खड़ी करके राजा कुत्तोंसे नोचवा डाले

śreyāṁsaṁ śayanaṁ hitvā yānyam pāpaṁ nigacchati | śvabhis tām ardayed rājā saṁsthāne bahu-vistare ||

Bhīṣma sprach: „Eine Frau, die das Lager eines würdigeren (rechtmäßigen) Gatten verlässt und das Lager eines anderen, sündigen Mannes aufsucht—eine solche liederliche Frau soll auf königlichen Befehl auf einem sehr weiten freien Platz aufgestellt und von Hunden zerrissen werden.“
