Educational Q&A

Do not abandon what is wholesome out of delusion. Ethical living requires foresight (pariṇāma-vicāra): ignoring consequences and indulging in harmful choices can bring swift destruction.

Brahmadatta delivers a didactic warning in the Shanti Parva’s instruction-oriented discourse, using the concrete example of diet/regimen to illustrate a broader moral principle: rejecting beneficial discipline and choosing harmful indulgence leads to ruin.
