Ālasyadoṣa-nirdeśa (On the Fault of Negligence) — The Camel’s Long-Neck Exemplum

यावदूर्ध्वमधश्वैव ग्रीवां संक्षिपते पशु: । तावत्‌ तेन सदारेण जम्बुकेन स भक्षित:,वह पशु जबतक अपनी गर्दनको ऊपर-नीचे समेटनेका यत्न करता रहा, तबतक ही सत्रीसहित सियारने उसे काटकर खा लिया

yāvad ūrdhvam adhaś caiva grīvāṃ saṃkṣipate paśuḥ | tāvat tena sadāreṇa jambukena sa bhakṣitaḥ ||

Solange das Tier versuchte, seinen Hals einzuziehen—bald nach oben, bald nach unten—riss der Schakal es in derselben Zeit zusammen mit seiner Gefährtin in Stücke und fraß es auf.
