Praise of Venerating Mother, Father, and Teacher

Educational Q&A

Merit grows greatly when virtuous actions are performed with humility and dedicated to revered elders/teachers; such reverent offering purifies intention and yields heightened spiritual clarity, symbolized by the ‘three worlds’ becoming manifest.

Bhīṣma, instructing Yudhiṣṭhira in the Śānti Parva, explains the cause of his extraordinary inner vision: he had habitually offered the fruits of his auspicious deeds to three venerable elders, and through that dedication his merit multiplied, resulting in a luminous, expanded perception.
