वृद्धा नोपासिताश्वैव हित॑ वाक््यं न ते श्रुतम् तुमने बृहस्पति और शुक्राचार्यके नीतिसम्बन्धी उपदेशको नहीं सुना है, बड़े-बूढ़ोंकी उपासना नहीं की है और उनके हितकर वचन भी नहीं सुने हैं ।। लोभेनातिबलेन त्वं तृष्णया च वशीकृत:
vṛddhā nopāsitāś caiva hitaṃ vākyaṃ na te śrutam | tvaṃ na bṛhaspati-śukrācāryayoḥ nīti-sambandhī upadeśaṃ śrutavān asi | lobhenātibalena tvaṃ tṛṣṇayā ca vaśīkṛtaḥ ||
Vāyu sagte: „Du hast die Ältesten nicht geehrt und ihren heilsamen Worten nicht gelauscht. Du hast die Lehren über Staatskunst und rechte Lebensführung, die Bṛhaspati und Śukrācārya vermittelten, nicht beachtet. Von maßloser Gier überwältigt und von Verlangen getrieben, bist du unter ihre Herrschaft geraten.“
