उदारबुद्धि महासेनने उस दैत्यपर भी आक्रमण किया। तब वह कार्तिकेयके भयसे क्रौंच पर्वतकी शरणमें जा छिपा ।। ततः क्रौजच॑ महामन्यु: क्रौज्चनादनिनादितम् | शक््त्या बिभेद भगवान् कार्तिकेयोडग्निदत्तया,इससे भगवान् कार्तिकेयको महान् क्रोध हुआ। उन्होंने अग्निकी दी हुई शक्तिसे क्रौंच पक्षियोंके कोलाहलसे गूँजते हुए क्रौंच पर्वतको विदीर्ण कर डाला
tataḥ krauñcaḥ mahāmanyuḥ krauñcanādanināditam | śaktyā bibheda bhagavān kārtikeyo 'gnidattayā ||
Da spaltete der Herr Kārtikeya, von gewaltigem Zorn erfüllt, den Berg Krauñca—widerhallend vom Geschrei der Krauñca-Vögel—mit dem Speer (śakti), den Agni ihm verliehen hatte. So zeigt sich: Göttliche Macht, von gerechtem Zweck gelenkt, beseitigt selbst scheinbar uneinnehmbare Zufluchten, wenn sie zerstörerische Kräfte bergen.
