स ददर्श महावीर्य देवदेवमुमापतिम् । शैलपुत्र्या समासीनं भूतसंघशतैर्वृतम्,कुमारने देखा कि सैकड़ों भूतसंघोंसे घिरे हुए महापराक्रमी देवाधिदेव उमापति गिरिराजनन्दिनी उमाके साथ पास ही बैठे हुए हैं
sa dadarśa mahāvīryaṃ devadevam umāpatim | śailaputryā samāsīnaṃ bhūtasaṅghaśatair vṛtam ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: Er erblickte den überaus mächtigen Herrn der Herren, Umāpati (Śiva), nahe bei der berggeborenen Göttin (Umā) sitzend, umgeben von Hunderten von Scharen von Wesen.
