Trita in the Well (Udapāna-kathā) — Balarāma’s Tīrtha Observances
स विसृष्टो महाराज जगामाथ स्वमालयम् । प्रजाश्न॒ मुदिता भूत्वा पुनस्तस्थुर्यथा पुरा
sa visṛṣṭo mahārāja jagāmātha svam ālayam | prajāś ca muditā bhūtvā punas tasthur yathā purā ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: „So ging er, o großer König, nachdem man ihn entlassen hatte, in seine eigene Wohnstatt. Und das Volk wurde wieder froh und blieb wie zuvor.“
वैशम्पायन उवाच
When rightful authority concludes a matter and grants leave, harmony returns: the individual departs to his proper place, and society regains its earlier stability and contentment—an image of dharma as restored order.
After being formally dismissed, the person referred to as “he” goes back to his own abode; the people become pleased again and settle back into their former state, indicating that a disturbance has been resolved.
