Kṛpa’s Counsel to Duryodhana
माद्रीपुत्रोी च शकुनिं सात्यकिश्न महाबल: । जवेनाभ्यपतन् ह्ृष्टा घ्नन्तो दौर्योधनं बलम्,दूसरी ओर पराक्रमी अर्जुनने रथसेनापर आक्रमण किया। माद्रीकुमार नकुल-सहदेव तथा महाबली सात्यकि दुर्योधनकी सेनाका विनाश करते हुए बड़े वेगसे शकुनिपर टूट पड़े
sañjaya uvāca |
mādrīputrau ca śakuniṃ sātyakiś ca mahābalaḥ |
javenābhyapatan hṛṣṭā ghnanto dauryodhanaṃ balam ||
Sañjaya sprach: Mādrīs beide Söhne—Nakula und Sahadeva—und der überaus mächtige Sātyaki stürmten, frohgemut und schnell, auf Śakuni zu, während sie zugleich Duryodhanas Truppen niedermachten.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights kṣatriya-dharma in practice: steadfast loyalty to one’s side and decisive action in battle. It also hints at the moral strain of war—victory is pursued through force, yet the warriors act under the perceived obligation of duty and alliance.
Sañjaya reports that Nakula and Sahadeva (the sons of Mādrī) along with the powerful Sātyaki, while slaughtering Duryodhana’s troops, surge rapidly and enthusiastically toward Śakuni, targeting him amid the broader clash.
