“उन सबकी ऐसी अवस्था हो गयी है, जैसी पहले कभी नहीं देखी गयी। सभी दुःखसे आतुर हैं और सबके नेत्र भयसे व्याकुल हो उठे हैं। सभी लोग भयभीत मृगोंके समान दसों दिशाओंकी ओर देख रहे हैं। दुर्योधनके मन्त्रियोंमेसे जो कोई बच गये हैं, वे राजमहिलाओंको साथ लेकर नगरकी ओर जा रहे हैं ।। प्राप्तकालमहं मन्ये प्रवेशं तैः सह प्रभुम् । युधिष्ठटिरमनुज्ञाय वासुदेव॑ तथैव च,“मैं राजा युधिष्ठिर और वसुदेवनन्दन श्रीकृष्णकी आज्ञा लेकर उन मन्त्रियोंके साथ ही नगरमें प्रवेश करूँ, यही मुझे समयोचित कर्तव्य जान पड़ता है”

prāptakālam ahaṃ manye praveśaṃ taiḥ saha prabhum |
yudhiṣṭhiram anujñāya vāsudevaṃ tathaiva ca ||
Sañjaya sprach: „Ich halte es für zeitgemäß und recht, zusammen mit jenen überlebenden Ministern in die Stadt einzuziehen, doch erst, nachdem ich die Erlaubnis von König Yudhiṣṭhira und ebenso von Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa) erhalten habe.“
