अनुज्ञातस्त्वहं तेन न्यस्तवर्मा निरायुध: । प्रातिष्ठं येन नगरं सायाद्वले रुधिरोक्षित:,उनके इस प्रकार आज्ञा देनेपर मैंने कवच उतार दिया और अस्त्र-शस्त्रोंसे रहित हो सायंकालके समय नगरकी ओर प्रस्थित हुआ। उस समय मेरा सारा शरीर रक्तसे भीगा हुआ था
anujñātas tv ahaṃ tena nyastavarmā nirāyudhaḥ | prātiṣṭhaṃ yena nagaraṃ sāyād vale rudhirokṣitaḥ ||
Sañjaya sprach: So von ihm erlaubt, legte ich die Rüstung ab und machte mich unbewaffnet gegen Abend zur Stadt auf. Damals war mein ganzer Körper von Blut durchnässt.
संजय उवाच

Sañjaya reports that, after receiving permission from a superior, he removes his armour, goes without weapons, and departs toward the city at dusk, physically marked by the battle—his body soaked in blood.
