भीमसेनस्य कौरवसुतवधः तथा श्रुतर्वावधः
Slaying of Kaurava princes and the fall of Śrutarvā
नातिप्रसिद्धेव गति: पाण्डवानामजायत । चारों ओर पर्वताकार विशालकाय हाथी पड़े थे, जो भीमसेन और अर्जुनके आघातोंसे पिस गये थे। उनके कारण पाण्डवोंका आगे बढ़ना अत्यन्त दुष्कर हो गया था ।। रथमार्ग ततश्षुक्रे भीमसेनो महाबल:
nātiprasiddheva gatiḥ pāṇḍavānām ajāyata | rathamārgaṃ tataḥ śukre bhīmaseno mahābalaḥ ||
Sañjaya sprach: Der Vormarsch der Pāṇḍavas schien unsicher und aufgehalten. Ringsum lagen riesige, berggleiche Elefanten, unter den Schlägen Bhīmasenas und Arjunas zermalmt; ihretwegen wurde das Weiterkommen äußerst schwer. Da bahnte der überaus starke Bhīmasena den Wagen einen Weg.
