The verse highlights how anger and ego can arise when one’s perceived function is eclipsed by another’s action. Ethically, it points toward the need to ground authority in dharma and service rather than in exclusive credit or possession of power-symbols.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Śiva, becoming agitated, addresses Brahmā and questions the usefulness of retaining the liṅga since creation of beings has already been accomplished by someone else. It marks a tense exchange about cosmic roles and the meaning of divine emblems.
