Brahmaśirastra-pratisaṃhāra — Retraction and redirection of the supreme weapon
Sauptika Parva, Adhyāya 15
विसृष्टस्य रणे तस्य परमास्त्रस्य संग्रहे । अशक्तः पाण्डवादन्य: साक्षादपि शतक्रतु:
visṛṣṭasya raṇe tasya paramāstrasya saṅgrahe | aśaktaḥ pāṇḍavād anyaḥ sākṣād api śatakratuḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: Als jenes höchste Geschoss in der Schlacht freigesetzt worden war, besaß keiner der Pāṇḍava die Macht, es zurückzuziehen und wieder in sich aufzunehmen—ja, nicht einmal Śatakratu (Indra) vermochte es. Die Stelle betont die schwere Verantwortung, die göttliche Waffen begleiten: Sind sie einmal entfesselt, ist ihre Rückkehr außerordentlich schwer, und nur ein Meister an Können und Selbstzucht kann ihren zerstörerischen Lauf aufhalten.
