नत्वां संदेष्टमहामि है [ प्रति शुचिस्मिते । साध्वीगुणसमापतन्ना भूषितं ते कुलद्धयम्‌,“पवित्र मुसकानवाली बहू! इसीलिये पतियोंके प्रति तुम्हारा कया कर्तव्य है, यह तुम्हें बतानेकी आवश्यकता मैं नहीं समझती। तुम सती स्त्रियोंके सदगुणोंसे सम्पन्न हो; तुमने पति और पिता--दोनोंके कुलोंकी शोभा बढ़ायी है

Transliteration

na tvāṃ saṃdeṣṭum aham iha prati śucismite | sādhvī-guṇa-samāpannā bhūṣitaṃ te kuladvayam ||

Translation

Vaiśaṃpāyana sprach: „O Frau mit reinem, sanftem Lächeln, ich halte es hier nicht für nötig, dich über deine Pflicht gegenüber deinen Gatten zu belehren. Du bist mit den Tugenden keuscher und edler Frauen begabt; du hast beiden Geschlechtern Ehre und Schmuck gebracht — dem Hause deines Vaters wie dem deines Gatten.“
