भूरिश्रवा: शान्तनवो विकर्णश्व॒ महारथ: । मा द्यूतमित्यभाषन्त शमो<स्त्विति च सर्वश:,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! तब द्रोणाचार्य, सोमदत्त, बाह्नीक, कृपाचार्य, विदुर, अश्व॒त्थामा, पराक्रमी युयुत्सु, भूरिश्रवा, पितामह भीष्म तथा महारथी विकर्ण सबने एक स्वरसे इस निर्णयका विरोध करते हुए कहा--'अब जूआ नहीं होना चाहिये, तभी सर्वत्र शान्ति बनी रह सकती है”

Vaiśampāyana uvāca — Bhūriśravāḥ Śāntanavo Vikarṇaś ca mahārathaḥ | mā dyūtam ity abhāṣanta śamo ’stv iti ca sarvaśaḥ ||

Vaiśampāyana sprach: Bhūriśravā, der Sohn Śāntanus, und Vikarṇa, der große Wagenkämpfer, erhoben gemeinsam die Stimme: „Es soll kein Würfelspiel geben; nur dann kann überall Frieden gestiftet werden.“
