मायासभायां दुर्योधनस्य अवमान-प्रसङ्गः
Duryodhana’s Humiliation in the Hall of Māyā
शक््यं वा यदि वाशक्यं करिष्यामि वचस्तव । एवमुक्ता तत:ः कृष्णमब्रवीद् यदुनन्दनम्
śakyaṃ vā yadi vāśakyaṃ kariṣyāmi vacas tava | evam uktā tataḥ kṛṣṇam abravīd yadunandanam |
«Ob es möglich sei oder unmöglich — ich werde dein Wort gewiss erfüllen.» Nachdem er so sein Versprechen gegeben hatte, wandte sich Śrutāśravā an Kṛṣṇa —die Freude der Yadus— und sprach:
भीष्म उवाच
The verse underscores the dharmic seriousness of giving one’s word: a commitment should be honored regardless of convenience, and one should speak promises with full awareness of their binding ethical force.
A pledge is given—"I will do your bidding whether possible or not"—and, upon receiving this assurance, Śrutāśravā proceeds to speak to Kṛṣṇa (addressed as Yadunandana), moving the dialogue forward in the Sabha Parva setting.
