Decision on the Highest Honor at the Assembly
कृशानर्थास्तत: केचिदकृशांस्तत्र कुर्वते । अवृशांश्व व॒शांक्षक्रुहेतुभि: शास्त्रनिश्चयै:,कुछ विद्वान शास्त्रनिश्चित नाना प्रकारके तर्कों और युक्तियोंसे दुर्बल पक्षोंको पुष्ट और पुष्ट पक्षोंको दुर्बल सिद्ध कर देते थे
kṛśān arthās tataḥ kecid akṛśāṁs tatra kurvate | avṛśāṁś ca vaśāṁś cakruḥ hetubhiḥ śāstra-niścayaiḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: Dann gab es in jener Versammlung einige Gelehrte—bewaffnet mit Gründen und aus den Śāstras gewonnenen Feststellungen—die schwache Standpunkte stark erscheinen ließen und ebenso starke Standpunkte schwach machten, durch ihre vielfältigen Arten des Argumentierens. Die Szene zeigt, wie geistige Gewandtheit, wenn sie nur dem Sieg dient, das Urteil verdrehen und das wahrhaft Rechte ins Wanken bringen kann.
