Adhyāya 33: Antarvedī-Samāgama, Arghya-Nirṇaya, and Śiśupāla’s Objection
यजस्वाभीप्सितं यज्ञ मयि श्रेयस्यवस्थिते । नियुद्धक्ष्व त्वं च मां कृत्ये सर्व कर्तास्मि ते वच:,आप अपने इस अभीष्ट यज्ञको प्रारम्भ कीजिये। मैं आपका कल्याण करनेके लिये सदा उद्यत हूँ। मुझे आवश्यक कार्यमें लगाइये, मैं आपकी सब आज्ञाओंका पालन करूँगा”
yajasvābhīpsitaṃ yajñaṃ mayi śreyasy avasthite | niyuddhakṣva tvaṃ ca māṃ kṛtye sarvaṃ kartāsmi te vacaḥ ||
„Beginne das Opfer, das du begehrst. Zu deinem wahren Heil (śreyas) stehe ich bereit. Setze mich in jeder erforderlichen Pflicht ein; ich werde all deine Befehle ausführen.“
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights ethical readiness to serve: one should undertake action (even demanding duty) with the intention of another’s śreyas—true welfare—expressed through faithful execution of rightful instructions.
A speaker conveys a pledge of support: the addressee is urged to commence a desired sacrifice, while the speaker offers to be employed in any necessary task and to follow all commands, underscoring cooperation around a major ritual undertaking.
