Arjuna’s Northern Conquests and Tribute Collection

Then, right there, with joy, Jarāsandha’s son consecrated his father to the kingship. Thereafter Sahadeva—having been taken into close friendship by Kṛṣṇa—was also greatly honored by the two Pārthas (Bhīma and Arjuna). The episode underscores the restoration of rightful rule and the ethical duty to honor virtue and loyal service.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic kingship and social ethics: rightful authority is affirmed through consecration, and noble conduct is shown by honoring those who act faithfully and form virtuous alliances.

Jarāsandha’s son performs the royal consecration of his father on the spot. Afterwards, because Kṛṣṇa accepts Sahadeva into close friendship, Bhīma and Arjuna also honor Sahadeva with special respect.
