The verse conveys that actions in a dharma-crisis—especially the deployment of extraordinary weapons—carry consequences that reverberate beyond individuals, symbolized by the earth’s trembling. It underscores the ethical gravity of escalating violence and the sense that cosmic order reacts to adharma-driven destruction.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that as a revered, powerful arrow is being set on a bow, the entire earth shakes along with mountains and forests—an ominous sign marking the moment as momentous and terrifying within the battle’s unfolding.
