Educational Q&A

Courage and loyalty are measured by steadfastness under the most terrifying opposition: those who did not break before Bhishma and Drona will not abandon their duty out of fear of Karna. The passage praises constancy to allies and the warrior’s resolve to face danger without turning away.

Sanjaya reassures and emphasizes the fighting spirit of the Panchala contingent allied with the Pandavas. He argues that since they stood firm against Bhishma’s overwhelming archery and Drona’s near-deathlike onslaught, it is implausible they would now flee merely upon encountering Karna.
