पूर्णचन्द्रनिकाशेन मूर्श्निच्छत्रेण भारत । प्रियमाणेन समरे श्रीमच्छतशलाकिना

Transliteration

sañjaya uvāca |

pūrṇacandranikāśena mūrdhni cchatreṇa bhārata |

priyamāṇena samare śrīmacchataśalākinā ||

Translation

Sañjaya sprach: „O Bhārata, Herr der Völker: Mitten in der Schlacht ist Karṇa gekennzeichnet durch einen weißen königlichen Schirm über seinem Haupt—strahlend wie der Vollmond und prächtig mit hundert glänzenden Speichen. Mit einem schrägen, zielbewussten Blick auf dich gerichtet, bereitet er sich offenkundig darauf vor, mit vorzüglicher Schnelligkeit vorzustürmen und dir auf dem Feld zu begegnen.“
