Educational Q&A

The verse underscores how war amplifies human passions through spectacle—drums and trumpets heighten resolve and dread alike—reminding the listener that great confrontations are not merely personal duels but events that sway the morale and ethical stakes of an entire army.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that as Karṇa and Bhīmasena come into direct confrontation, the battlefield instruments sound again with a powerful roar, signaling the imminent clash between these two major fighters.
