Chapter 45
प्रययौ रथघोषेण सिंहनादरवेण च । वादित्राणां च निनदैः कम्पयज्निव मेदिनीम्
prayayau rathaghoṣeṇa siṃhanādaraveṇa ca | vāditrāṇāṃ ca ninadaiḥ kampayann iva medinīm ||
Sanjaya sprach: Er rückte vor, begleitet vom Donnern seines Wagens und einem löwengleichen Kriegsschrei; und im Getöse der Kriegsinstrumente schien er die Erde selbst erbeben zu lassen.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how the outward splendour of war—roars, cries, and instruments—can generate awe and intimidation, reminding readers that martial power often advances through spectacle as much as through righteousness; ethical judgment must look beyond noise and display.
Sañjaya describes a warrior advancing in his chariot amid thunderous rumbling, lion-like shouts, and the din of war-instruments, so intense that it seems to shake the earth—signalling the escalation and ferocity of the battle scene.
