ऋद्ध गृहं सर्वकामैर्यच्च मे वसु किंचन । तत् सर्वमस्मै सत्कृत्य प्रयच्छामि न चेच्छति,“मैं सम्पूर्ण भोगोंसे सम्पन्न समृद्धिशाली घर और जो कुछ भी धन मेरे पास था, वह सब उस ब्राह्मणको सत्कारपूर्वक देने लगा; परंतु उसने कुछ भी लेनेकी इच्छा नहीं की
ṛddha gṛhaṃ sarvakāmair yac ca me vasu kiṃcana | tat sarvam asmai satkṛtya prayacchāmi na cecchati ||
Sañjaya sprach: „Ich bot jenem Brāhmaṇa, in gebührender Ehrung, mein wohlhabendes Haus an, erfüllt von allem Komfort, und alles Vermögen, das ich besaß. Doch er zeigte keinerlei Wunsch, irgendetwas anzunehmen.“
