Karna Reproves Shalya; Brahmin Reports on Bāhlīkas; Shalya’s Universalizing Rebuttal
The verse highlights the practical ethics of kingship in war: a leader must not only command but also provide support—logistical and martial—to those entrusted with decisive action. It also shows Duryodhana’s reliance on Karṇa’s judgment, underscoring loyalty and delegated authority within an alliance.
Duryodhana responds to Karṇa’s counsel and agrees to act according to Karṇa’s plan. He promises that supporting, horse-yoked chariots will follow Karṇa in the battle, indicating organized reinforcement and supply behind the lead warrior.
