The verse underscores the immediate, overwhelming consequences of war: life is reduced to bodies and wreckage, and the very earth becomes obstructed. It implicitly warns of the moral and human cost of violence—how quickly conflict turns a field into an impassable landscape of suffering.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the battlefield has become choked with fallen horses and slain warriors, making the ground difficult to traverse. It is a vivid situational update emphasizing the intensity and carnage of the fighting in the Karṇa Parva.
