संजय उवाच
As a colophon, the verse does not teach through a direct maxim; it frames the ethical tension of the episode by formally closing a dialogue between a commander-teacher (Droṇa) and a king (Duryodhana), reminding the reader that decisions in war are shaped by competing duties—loyalty, righteousness, and expediency.
This is the chapter-ending formula: Sañjaya signals that the chapter in the Droṇa Parva, within the Droṇa-vadha section, has concluded, and that its content centered on the exchange between Droṇa and Duryodhana.
