Sañjaya sprach: „Solange dieser heldenhafte Kaurava-König heute nicht in die Reichweite von Arjunas Pfeilen gerät, haltet ihn auf dem Schlachtfeld zurück.“

The verse highlights prudent leadership in war: when facing a superior warrior (Arjuna), commanders should prioritize safeguarding their ruler and avoiding reckless exposure. It frames protection and restraint as a practical duty in sustaining the army and preventing avoidable loss.
Sañjaya reports an instruction given on the battlefield: the Kaurava leader should be kept from entering the effective range of Arjuna’s arrows. It reflects immediate tactical urgency amid the Drona Parva fighting, where Arjuna’s archery is a decisive threat.
