Mere ambition and imagined confidence cannot replace proven strength and disciplined action; underestimating a formidable opponent—one who has even faced a divine power—reveals arrogance and leads to ruin.
Sañjaya rebukes a charioteer (addressed contemptuously as sūtādhama), warning that it is futile to think one can defeat a warrior renowned for having fought Mahādeva himself; the line underscores the opponent’s extraordinary prowess and the speaker’s attempt to curb reckless overconfidence.
