Arjuna-vīrya-prasaṃśā and renewed battle formation
The verse highlights the tension between personal loyalty and ethical restraint: Karna’s pledge to win the earth by annihilating opponents shows how martial pride and attachment to victory can eclipse dharma, turning sovereignty into a spoil rather than a responsibility.
Karna, speaking as a leading Kaurava warrior, vows to destroy key allied forces of the Pāṇḍavas—Pañcālas, Kekayas, and Vṛṣṇis—by intense arrow-fire, and promises to deliver the conquered realm (the earth) to his side’s king.
