मृदज्रानकनिह्वदिर्सझरै: पटहैस्तथा
mṛdaṅgānaka-nihvādaiḥ sa-jharaiḥ paṭahais tathā
Sañjaya sprach: „Da erhob sich ein dröhnender Lärm—von mṛdaṅgas und ānakas, von jharas und ebenso von paṭahas, Kriegstrommeln.“ Der Vers betont, wie die Instrumente des Schlachtfeldes gemeinsamen Entschluss und Einschüchterung steigern und so die Zuspitzung des Konflikts wie auch das moralische Gewicht des Kriegsdrangs anzeigen.
